Audition Information
Welcome, Recruits!
The Metropolitan Boys Choir is recruiting members for the 2011-12 season choirs and would look forward to the possibility of you joining us!
We invite you to visit a rehearsal and 'check us out.’ Our choir boys and staff are friendly and welcoming. If after visiting a rehearsal, you should want to audition, your audition will be a private one-on-one meeting and will be made as comfortable and fun as we can make it.
- We continue our forty year tradition of offering a program that promotes good music along with values and self-discipline. The Boys Choir experience not only gives the boys fine musical training but focuses on developing self-esteem, building positive relationships with peers and adults and nurturing interpersonal skills.
- Our boys come from varied ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds.
- We have choirs for boys of various ages, including a choir for Junior Singers ages 5-7, and Viking and Senior Choirs for boys ages 8-15.
- The Boys Choir sings a variety of music from the choral classics, patriotic, folk songs, spirituals to musical theater and pop. The boys are provided with music/word sheets and practice CD's to assist in their learning.
- No boy is kept out of the Boys Choir for financial reasons. Any special financial arrangements will be kept confidential.
We look forward to meeting with you. We can give you much information at our meeting, but if you would like to have questions answered before you come, please feel free to contact us.
The Boys rehearse on Saturday mornings at various times. Our regular season rehearsals begin on September 10, 2011. We encourage anyone interested to visit us on a Saturday morning, but alternative days and times can be arranged. Auditions will be ongoing throughout the season.
To visit a rehearsal, please contact us to confirm the time. We meet Saturday mornings at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 4842 Nicollet Ave. in South Minneapolis. We are not affiliated with any religious organization as we have singers from many different backgrounds. We are very fortunate to be given wonderful rehearsal and office spaces.
